We had a really nasty storm come through today. While we were out at the mall, a microburst that spun off of a tornado (that eventually touched down in Indiana) dumped rain and hail onto the neighborhood. So much rain fell so fast that the street flooded; water was half way up the lawn and 60% of the way up the driveway. Neighbors were kayaking down the street. Here are some photos of the damage.
Well, the holiday season is upon us again, and this is the first year with Kitty Katty since we adopted her way back in Lorain County. I always appreciated how the Christmas tree was hers; she’d fight with Griffin to keep him from sleeping under it. Here she is under her tree: Happy holidays, KK! Our cat Kitty Katty passed away today from acute organ failure due to old age. We adopted her when she and Jordan were both 3, and we called her our Lorain County Buddy. She was with us in three houses, two states, and almost 13 years, and Jordan has grown up with her as her companion. We loved her and miss her already. Rest in peace, KK. You are a part of our family and are already being missed.
Jordan took Griffin to meet Santa Claus at PetSmart on Saturday. Griffin could not figure out why he was seeing dogs, birds and fish, but made the best of it! Merry Christmas from Griffin, Kitty Katty, Jordan, Laura and Jim!
Jordan and Jim headed downtown to Navy Pier yesterday. We started out at the Naperville train station. We headed down to Navy Pier, where we rode the Centennial Wheel. We were able to take some great photos from up there! We also rode on the Tall Ship Windy, where Jordan was able to help raise the sails. Jim, Mike Herdmann and Daniel Herdmann all took the 4th Degree of the Knights of Columbus on April 29th. Jim came in from Illinois to Westlake to join with Ohio District One for the ceremony. Mom stood in for Laura and attended the brunch and dinner. This was all while a team of family, spearheaded by Frank, Erin and Tricia Rand, was moving Mom into her new apartment. Jordan was confirmed at St. Francis of Assisi on Saturday May 20th. John Hinkel was her sponsor, and we had Mom, John, Erin, Katie and Connor in for the big event. Michael Herdman and Danielle Sheppard were married on Saturday May 27th at St. James in Lakewood, Ohio. The reception was at the Cuyahoga County Historical Society. The church is a replica of a basilica in Spain, and is a treasure. Here are Kerry and Mike walking down the center aisle before the wedding. Lots of family were on hand to witness their marriage. On October 13th, we headed downtown to the United Center, where the Chicago Bulls play, to take in the Kellogg’s Tour of Gymnastics Champions. Laura got us front-row seats and we also go to meet most of the Olympians.
